I am proud to share the successful completion of our latest project being a comprehensive Terrorism and Active Armed Offender Risk and Gap Analysis of St Andrews Square and surrounding precinct located within the Sydney CBD.

Our analysis covered key areas including St Andrews House, the bustling retail precinct, the historic St Andrews Cathedral and St Andrews Square itself.

The Analysis and Assessment focused on the precinct being chosen for a Terrorism or Active Armed Offender incident due to the historical St Andrews Cathedral, Sydney Town Hall, Rail Station and St Andrews Square being the choice for public demonstrations.

Through meticulous assessment and consultation with local stakeholders. EVAC One identified and assessed vulnerabilities, risks, current countermeasures, assessment of the sites business and public uses, emergency management resources and preparation, emergency services response means and capability, current communication methods and abilities between key stakeholders during and after a critical incident. Crisis management frameworks and the precincts resilience capabilities. Thorough review and examination of all physical and electronic security measures were addressed, and recommendations made to further strengthen these measures against client and key stakeholder expectations and purpose. Many further aspects were included in this analysis and report but, for obvious reasons I cannot outline for security sensitivity for key stakeholders and government agencies involved.

Recommendations were difficult to navigate due to the historical features of the location however, all key stakeholders, the Anglican Church, Sydney City Council and the Historical representatives were committed to the task and end goal of the project. Our specialist EVAC One consultants demonstrated their expertise in their specialist fields and our commitment to creating a safer environment was at the forefront of this project.

I would like to express my gratitude to all key stakeholders involved for their trust in EVAC One and are excited to contribute further to the ongoing safety of this iconic precinct.

Together, we will be working to ensure that the St Andrews Precinct within the Sydney CBD remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

EVAC One recently hosted an Active Armed Offender Executive Briefing and Update to leaders in the property management industry in the aftermath of the West Fields Active Armed Offender Bondi Junction attack.

Our panel of experts were representatives from EVAC One senior consultants, high ranking NSW Police and current and former Australian Defence Force Special Forces members from SASR including Mark Donaldson VC.

The industry briefing outlined Australian Government current understanding of the increased radicalisation of young Australian males between the ages of 18 and 25 years old and their feelings of despair and helplessness and thoughts of abandonment by the Australian government and their feeling they need to take matters into their own hands.

Review of recent Terrorism and Active Armed Offender incidents globally and current trends and identified patterns from international government agencies and possible resembled tactics locally in Australia.

An overview of current Policing Framework nationally and community engagement.

ADF Special forces members then examined and explained how members of the public (non-trained in combat environments) will react when placed into a situation of heavy casualty. These members explained in detail combat experiences and the reliance on their level of training to respond correctly.

EVAC One consultants then detailed current Emergency Response Planning requirements for those responsible for emergency planning within the context of terrorism and Active Armed Offender incidents.
